All About Miss Howell
I grew up in Vassar, Kansas and attended Lyndon Elementary School, Lyndon Jr. High School, and Lyndon High School. Upon graduation, I attended Emporia State University(ESU). At the university I received my Bachelor of Science in Education. My degree was in early childhood and elementary education. I also received a minor in middle school science. While attending ESU I gained experience in the 2nd, 5th, and 7th grade classrooms. Upon graduating in December I participated in a program called Project Merit. Through this program I took 9 credit hours of master level courses on English as a second language, while co-teaching 7th grade science for a semester at Emporia Middle School. I began teaching 5th grade in 2011 at Burlingame Elementary school. For the 2012-2013 I switched to 4th grade. I continue to teach 4th grade for the 2013-2014 school year.
I am currently very busy planning my wedding. When I'm not wedding planning I enjoy jogging, scrap booking with my cricut, swimming, cooking, and baking. I have an adorable and active husky named Sakari(Suh-car-ee). Her name means "sweet" but she is very curious and that can get her into trouble at times.
In our classroom we have respect for everyone and everything. It is our only classroom rule. We consider ourselves a classroom family, therefore it is "our" classroom not "my" classroom. We learn through many cooperative and independent projects. In our classroom not only do we learn academics, but how to work and get along with others. We learn character traits such as honesty, cooperation, respect, discipline, etc. We discuss what makes us successful and what we can improve on. We have high standards and expectations.
